Dominican Republic Mission Trips

For the last two years we have participated in a faith and service project with communities in the Dominican Republic, specifically, in the capital of Santo Domingo. The organization we work with is Foundation for Peace [it's website is www.foundationforpeace.org] which is based in the U.S. and has U.S. American and Dominican staff full-time in the DR. The motto is "mano y mano," which means "hand in hand," and truly expresses the kind of life-changing experience we have each year. We have connected with three different communities so far in Yaguate, Zumbon, and most recently, La Javilla de la Cruz Grande. This summer, we will continue our work with La Javilla by helping with their church and school construction project, assisting in the free community medical clinic, and youth and children's programs like Vacation Bible School and Sports clinics.

We are committed to this work because we feel compelled to reach beyond our own borders to join with those who are in need. The experience of community with the Dominicans is unlike any other, and it inspires us to a better faith and more responsible service and presence in the world!
